學生的好問題

在今年潛水課上，學生問了一個問題：海膽是吃甚麼的？
我之前只留意生物的名字，沒有物別研究不同生物究竟實際是吃甚麼？
我當時覺得，他們應是吃水中的浮游生物。
不過這原來是不對。
在網上找到的是說吃植物或海藻。
不過說得最清楚的都是要去圖書館查。
海膽是草食性動物，主要食糧是海藻(seaweeds or algae).
They are herbivorous, but also ingest encrusting animals, and they even consume living coral when seaweeds are scarce.
They are found in seagrass, rubble-strewn sand bottom, and coral reef.
所以上年在香港海下灣有部份區域發生這種失衡狀態，有部份珊瑚給食了，而需遷移過萬隻海膽。
其他資料：
海膽是Echinoiderms class. 屬於這分類的生物還有：海星(sea stars)、海參(sea cucumbers)、羽毛海星(feather stars)、brittle stars、basket stars 等等。
商業飼養海膽，通常會用乾海藻作食糧。
海膽是雌雄同體生物，壽命可有4至8年。
